Stanford Sutherland Bio

Chilhowee Psychological Services Stanford Scott Sutherland earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado (License #4879).

Mr. Sutherland has a broad foundation in the mental health profession having worked as a mental health technician in a residential treatment facility for severely emotionally disturbed children, a crisis evaluator and therapist at psychiatric hospitals in California and Colorado, a therapist in a university counseling center and in private practice, and as a clinical supervisor in a community mental health agency. He is currently Co-Director of Soldier Life Center, a psychological clinic providing services to active duty service members (Army) from Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The therapeutic modalities that Mr. Sutherland utilizes are AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), he is a level II trained EMDR therapist. Mr. Sutherland has been a guest lecturer at St. Mary's College and Fuller Theological Seminary and has been published in the Focus on the Family Magazine.
